UTC Offset: UTC -5

Central Daylight Time (CDT) operates at UTC−5 and is the daylight saving time observed in the Central Time Zone during the summer months. Sometimes simply referred to as "Central Time," CDT shifts clocks one hour forward from Central Standard Time (CST, UTC−6) to extend evening daylight. CDT is used across much of the central United States, parts of central Canada, and portions of northern Mexico.

Importance and Global Use of CDT

CDT helps maximize daylight hours in the summer, benefiting social activities, tourism, and local businesses by extending evening daylight. This adjustment is important for industries such as construction, agriculture, and retail, as well as for community events, which all gain from longer daylight hours after standard working times.

On an international level, CDT supports smoother coordination across North America, Latin America, and global partners by maintaining a predictable daylight saving schedule. This facilitates real-time communications, trade operations, and transportation links, allowing international businesses and supply chains to align more easily with Central Time Zone regions during the summer.
